Science has taught us over time that small variances in the interactions of an organisms systems and components can yield largely different results. Tracking and understanding the complexities of these system interactions are at the core of systems biology, and prove to be its biggest challenge.

The study of systems biology has been largely aided by the availability of massive amounts of expert knowledge and “Omics data”. The complex biological data stored in bioinformatics databases often requires the addition of knowledge to specify and constrain the values held in that database.

Aedi Bio has developed a predictive systems-oriented technology to address the inherent complexity in biomedical research. By combining knowledge and data in a consistent ontology within our hypothesis generator, Harvest™, we can deliver significantly improved efficiency in the research process.

Scientists can now leverage existing knowledge, while adding their own proprietary knowledge, and then quickly run prediction scenarios to determine feasibility. HarvestTM stores knowledge in the form of rules, which is far more descriptive than conventional methods, enabling more complex scenarios to be modeled. Rules can be weighted, thus giving truly important knowledge priority over non-important items that may skew results.
